Weiterlesen »

I just updated this blog to the latest WordPress version without any problems. Obviously all the bugs, keeping the crowd from updating, have been removed. Even all the plugins worked out of the box!
What I really like is the new Gravatar-thing, little icons above the comments, personalized by the author’s email address. I consider this pretty interesting, as it shows up the one or another face from commonly faceless commentators.
Apart from that, I really have to get used to the new backend and find out why the jLanguage plugin doesn’t work properly any longer. Maybe I have to find something new with similar functionality, we’ll see.

For not being accused of laziness, I added some new features to eSteak:
- It is now possible to add a feed url to each plugin (as suggested). There will be a link in the detailview then
- You can choose the software license of your plugin from a given set now. This information (and author names) will be included in the upcoming packed download.
- Additionally, plugins which depend on the currently shown one are also shown in the detail view now:

I am looking forward to get the next features online soon. Those will be the possibility to pack the download and to give the system the ability to handle different mootools versions. So, keep at it!

I proudly present two more extensions: JSGallery_flickr and JSGallery_simpleviewer. You can now show flickr images or parse a SimpleViewer XML. Thus, it’s very easy to create a no-flash version of SimpleViewer which uses the same data. Cool, eh?!

I just uploaded little extension for my JSGallery to eSteak. It provides a new “addImage” method, which can be used to add new images to the gallery with javascript. As next steps, I will integrate flickr support and parsing of SimpleViewer-XML format.
You can then create a whole flickr gallery with one simple call or provide an easy-to-set-up fallback for SimpleViewer galleries.
Additionally, I modified the internal structure a litte bit, being able to write more flexible extensions later on. I also fixed the annoying scroll effect after clicking one of the thumbnails or the controls.
Hope you like it!

I just came to a website, where you can BUY litte javascript widgets – funny, isn’t it? The prices are about $30! per script!!! If you are a developer and want to resell those, you even have to pay more than $100.
Now I wonder who ever buys such scripts as there are numerous free alternatives out there…

I recently created a flash image gallery for my current employer which is used on the Schiesser website. It heavily looks like the Simple Viewer, but was written completely new. As I also wanted to have the same functionality without flash, but with javascript, I took some time and created it. I think the result is worth to take a look. As always, you can download it for free on eSteak.net.
